This is all there is we sang in the morning and in the afternoon autumn was coming the heat had ceased to roast inside out the houses were yellowing our steps were careful we slivered our time we touched the sky we forgot for a moment that there was no hope.

wide hips required to bear the children listen to them grow
they wander they shout they cry they look for you with their hunger
you are not there
you sit in a room alone watching the observatory
time goes away your hair is now grey
they do not come to see you anymore
you have never left the room

I sew their dresses day and night, my fingers bleed, all white embroidered with birds and secret wishes, I pray for their broken down hearts once they were happy today they die a little day by day

bloated we shuffle amidst the crowd they want blood they want to know what we do when we do how we do why we do we resign ourselves to the inclement gaze No reason given just walking around exposing ourselves we shiver and cry There is no mercy
